How to reach the Bavarian State Library from Munich Airport?

 A. Public transportation by train

Take the S8 or S1 train (S8: direction "Herrsching", S1: direction "Neufahrn" or "Ostbahnhof München") and disembark at the station "Marienplatz". There you can change to Underground Line U3 (direction "Moosach") or U6 (direction "Garching-Forschungszentrum"). Exit the Underground at stop "Universität" (2 minutes). Further information can be found here: http://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/home/index.html.

B. Lufthansa Airport Bus

This shuttle is not restricted to Lufthansa customers. Detailed information can be found here: http://www.airportbus-muenchen.de/cms/en/home/. There are only two bus stops of this shuttle in Munich city: Munich North / Schwabing Nord and Munich Center / München Zentrum. You can leave the bus at Munich North. There you can change to Underground Line U6 (direction "Klinikum Großhadern"). Exit the Underground at stop "Universität" (6 minutes). Please note that you need an additional ticket for the Underground Line.

C. Taxi

Cabs can be found at several locations of the airport: http://www.munich-airport.de/en/consumer/anab/taxi/index.jsp.

You will need 45-60 minutes to reach the Bavarian State Library regardless of the chosen option. Additional information on transportation issues can be found here: http://www.munich-airport.de/en/consumer/anab/index.jsp.

How to reach the Bavarian State Library from Munich Central Station?

Take Underground Line U4 (direction "Arabellapark") or U5 (direction
"Neuperlach Süd"). Exit the Underground at stop "Odeonsplatz" (3
minutes). Follow the Ludwigstrasse northward for about 500 m. You reach the
Bavarian State Library on the right.

How to find the "Friedrich-von-Gärtner-Saal"?

The conference room of the Bavarian State Libray is called
"Friedrich-von-Gärtner-Saal". The attached plan of the 1st floor of the
library building may help you to find the way. The main entrance
(Ludwigstraße) leads directly to the central staircase. At the top of the
stairs keep straight on for some 20 m, turn left and enter a long corridor
which leads directly to the Gärtner-Saal.
